Nothing we will ever do is more important than this
Dear Ronnie,
A Jewish woman smiles after receiving a parcel of food from the Jerusalem Prayer Team. |
Today,
I've been meditating on the Parable of the Sheep and Goats. It begins
with Jesus talking about His return in glory to set up His kingdom. In
this parable, He declares, “The sheep will be blessed by My Father and will be given an inheritance.” Then He tells us why in Matthew 25:35-36, “For
I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink;
I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I
was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.”
Then the revelation of the mystery, “The
King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the
least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me’” (Matthew 25:40).
The
brethren of the King are the Jewish people. This amazing revelation in
Matthew 25 about the sheep and goats has to do with the nations being
judged on how they treated the Jews. The goats are cursed because they
were given opportunities but did nothing to help God’s Chosen People.
The
sheep are blessed because they did take advantage of those
opportunities. Nothing we will ever do in our lives is more important
than what you and I are doing right now in Jerusalem. Today, I am asking
you to bless the Jewish brothers and sisters of Jesus in a special way.
In
just a few weeks, Jewish people here in Israel and around the world will
celebrate Rosh Hashanah and the start of the new year on the Jewish
calendar. Already the excitement is building here in Israel over the
upcoming holiday. Rosh Hashanah is a time of feasting and joy, but while
there will be great celebrations going on to welcome the new year, for
the poor of Israel, especially the poor Holocaust survivors, this will
be anything but a happy time.
We
will be hosting large Rosh Hashanah parties for Holocaust survivors in
both Jerusalem and Haifa, and I need your help. We want to not only show
them Christian love in action at these parties, but every day as we
continue to provide food, medicine, and other urgently-needed help to
these precious people. And we can't do that without your help. Time
is running out—the holiday is coming very soon, but even more
importantly, the Holocaust survivors are passing away at the rate of
more than 1000 per month. If they are ever going to see Christian love in action, we must not delay and act now, before it's too late.
The
work of the Jerusalem Prayer Team in support and defense of the Jewish
people is always important. There are enemies of Israel everywhere, and
we must stand against them. God has called us to build the Friends of Zion Heritage Center, as a wall of defense for His Chosen People, and together we are reaching out in Christian love to meet the needs of the poor of the House of Israel. Your financial support is a powerful blessing to Israel and the Jewish people.
